If you want to get fit, strength training is one of the best ways to get into it.  The other one is cardio, but we won’t be talking about that in this article. We would be focusing on strength training, since it has the means to reverse the natural process of losing muscles as you get older. Lose of muscles begin at 40 years old and if you aren’t going to get those muscles pump up then you would lose them.

Fortunately, this article is about strength training at forties.  There are some special things that you need to know before embarking at strength training at 40’s.  You won’t be feeling the same when you are at your forties, so you need to pay attention to what this article is saying.  There are various methods that you can explore in strength training and we would be tackling most of them.

Most people would think that those in their forties are ancient and to be honest, I used to think that way too till my age gets close to forties.  Anyway, I am in my late thirties, but I am stronger than most people in their 20’s.  Not to brag about it, but I am always into strength training when I was a lot younger.  When I was younger, I used to think that those in their forties are ancient, but now that I am nearing that age, I don’t feel like ancient and it changes my point of view regarding the matter.

What is the secret?

No, there are no secret as strength training is the fountain of youth and this is not a secret anymore as lots of people have proven it.  There is no need to fear old age if you have taken care of yourself while you are younger.  You don’t need to fear of getting old if you are always into strength training.  It would help you to be stronger and look younger than your chronological age.

Aside from looking good and getting fit, it also helps you to sleep well.  You can sleep well if you are exercising regularly since the blood flow is getting well.  This helps you to sleep well, so if you have a problem with sleep apnea before, you would notice that you are getting a lot sleep as you get into strength training.  Let’s not forget that you are going to be fitter even if you sleeping a lot since the muscle help you get rid of those fats in your body.

They say that those, who are getting old, should not get into doing much work since they might have an injury, but if you are into strength training then it would be a different scenario with you.   Those muscles help in supporting everything in your body, so you can avoid getting injured.   Building those muscles would ensure that you can live a life free from injury.

If you have been inactive for a long time, then you need to consider a few things.

  1. You need to start slow, so that you won’t be overworking your muscle.
  2. Consult a doctor because they know what would be good for you.

There are many ways to tackle strength training.

  1. You can work with weights.
  2. Build strength with resistance bands.
  3. Use your own body weight.

For best result, it would be best to combine all of the mentioned methods.  Variety is the key to not getting bored with your strength training.   It would also help you to attack the different muscles in all kind of angles.   Also, it would ensure that you won’t get tired and be consistent with your workout.
