How much fiber do we need?
We like eating fiber and it can be found in most food that we eat, particularly in fresh fruits and vegetables like apples, coconut, chick peas, and a lot more fiber rich food. According to the USDA, we should be eating around 14 grams of fiber for every 200 calories you intake. For most people, they only get half of that since they are always eating processed food. If you want more fiber into your diet then you should be eating foods that are high in fiber.
Types of fibers
In general, there are two types of fibers, they are:
Soluble – comes from the flesh of the fruits. It forms like a jelly substance and doesn’t get digest easily. Usually, they get attached to the other digested food in the body.
Insoluble – found in the peels, skins, or husks of plant-based foods. They can’t be dissolved in the stomach, so your body can quickly absorb it as long as you drink lots of water.
Don’t worry on where you can get both of them as they are package together since the first one is found on the flesh of the fruit and the other one is found on the skin of the fruits and vegetables. Perhaps, the best food that you can eat to slim down are brown rice, corn, beans, chickpeas, grapes, apples, raspberries, and celery.
